HELENA LEHTINEN:

TARJA LEHTINEN:
"I work with hard materials like stone and glass. These materials are strong and resistant and their variety of colours is endless. Transparency and glow of class and combination of matt and polished surface is captivating and beautiful.
I have explored the history of cameo. Those are very old forms of jewellery and they have changed during the years. They are historical portraits as well as they tell us the story of the time.
In my cameos I want to combine something old and traditional with new technique and my own design. Ready polished class, like recycled wine bottles, is material that I want to shape in new form and for different use. I use sandblasting and engraving to create the layers and portraits".

TARJA TUUPANEN:
"I'm interested in whiteness, pureness, silence and emptiness. Can an image of landscape be white, can a portrait be blanco? Main material for these ideas is cacholong, white stone from quartz group. The stone offers wide range of white colours like warm creamy white to cold bluish snow white or almost grey shades. It gives me a material to create minimalistic forms, portraits without pictures, scenery without a view".

ANNA RIKKINEN:
"My fascinations lie in reflections from the past, nakedness and abundance of decoration. Image in a mirror, do you see yourself or do you want to be seen?"

TERHI TOLVANEN:
"Voor mijn sieradencollectie “La Folie des Fleurs” heb ik de “bloem” als uitgangspunt genomen. “La Folie des Fleurs” refereert aan de talrijke florale motieven uit de traditionele sieraadvormgeving zoals de sieraden van Rene Lalique of modesieraden. De serie gaat zoals mijn eerdere werk over de grens tussen het onnatuurlijke en natuurlijke. Ik heb mijn eigen takken, mossen, bloemen en fruit gecombineert met de natuurlijke wisseling van de seizoenen. Ik laat “La Folie des Fleurs” de vier seizoenen volgen; de serie zal uit vier delen bestaan, herfst, winter, lente en zomer".

JANNA SYVÄNOJA:
“The process of making my jewellery pieces out of recycled paper, involves a slow, “natural” technique. By curving each slice of paper around the steel wire, one by one, one after another, it is as if the piece grows into its shape by itself. This way the character of wood, paper's original material, is preserved in the piece - as is also the association to the whole organic world, the way it builds itself, being in constant change, travelling in time.
Printed paper has also an additional reality, the information it contains. Now, one can only see separate words and letters that have been transformed into graphical patterns on the surface of the piece. The previous content of the material referred to communication between people - message and expression. A piece of jewellery is worn for the same purpose.”
