Presentation

Lesley Craze Gallery is one of Europe’s foremost contemporary jewellery galleries. This February 2010 we are pleased to present a solo show of new work by award winning Australian jeweller Felicity Peters. The exhibition opens on February 5th 2010 and continues until the 27th February, it will be opened by WA Agent General Mrs Kerry Sanderson AO.

Felicity Peters received a Creative Development Fellowship from the Department of Culture and the Arts in 2009. The $60,000 award is sponsored by the Western Australian Government. Up to two Fellowships can be awarded to any of the State’s professional artists and arts workers. The award is intended to allow artists to research and develop work without normal financial restraints.

A number of projects were set by Felicity. She studied the Etruscan art of granulation, the fusing of tiny 18ct gold balls to an 18ct gold base with American artist Kent Raible at well known Alan Revere’s jewellery academy in San Francisco. Some of this new work will be shown at the gallery where beautiful and unusual 18ct gold beads are linked to tanzanite, onyx and tourmalines.

A five week trip to Poland included a solo show in Legnica; an international workshop in amber in Gdansk and time spent traveling around the country to give lectures and demonstrations.

The inspirations gained from the trip have given Felicity many ideas for a completely new range of jewellery, entitled ‘Kopernik Daisy’. Felicity has used computer aided drawings (CAD) for this new range.

Felicity is the first Australian to have a solo show at the gallery and this exhibition is the fourth part of Felicity’s project.  For this show Felicity has also designed a new range of 18ct gold, sterling silver and acrylic jewellery. The acrylic jewellery is lighthearted and fun with a colour range of purple, fluoro green, orange, silver and red in the form of necklaces, bangles, earrings and wild neckpieces.

The 18ct gold range is an extension of the Kopernik range as is a sterling silver and 24ct gold range which is all new. Aside from this Felicity also has a delicate new range of work in 18ct gold and sterling silver which was inspired by three months spent in Italy in 2007.

Felicity Peters has won numerous awards and her work is featured extensively in many publications. She has exhibited internationally for fifteen years and her work is represented in private and public collections across the world. Lesley Craze Gallery presented her work at Collect, the art fair for contemporary objects held at the V & A in London in 2005. This exciting exhibition will be an important part of her professional development in the international jewellery arena and promises to be a delight of unusual, exciting and beautifully crafted work.  All works are for sale.
