(...) The insects sit in symmetric ornaments which grow into three dimensional constructions and resemble flowers in bloom. The beetles and butterflies turn into petals. And the secret of the garden? Its flowers can spread their wings and fly away. (...)

Intersections
This newest body of work consists of brooches, pendants, rings and earrings. Nikolay Sardamov use the circle as a basic component and put together three-dimensional forms with six different circle sizes.
These forms are built symmetrically, starting from a center and adding and arranging the components in different angles to form clusters and layers. The resulting shape is a rigid meshwork, where the cube can be recognized as the main organizing form.
"Building the forms was like a game for exploring variations. I used the same number of components to put together forms with different characteristics: pattern, density and size" says Nikolay Sardamov. The pieces are first built up in wax and then cast in one piece in silver or gold.
BI-RE- CYCLE
This body of work goes back to mobility in today’s world. In this line of thoughts the choice of material is logical: bicycle tyre. Pieces of the black tyre are slipped over a skeleton-like silver construction and create unisex neckpieces with a futuristic air. Recycling is the second component of the works. It plays an important role in the future intelligent society as well as in jewellery design. And last but not least there is the basic shape of the circle that has always represented important imagery in jewellery.
Soft Construction
This collection consists of pendants, necklaces and bracelets. The pieces are built of metal sheet elements in square form with round holes. They are held together by rubber loops, put in different ways through the holes. The pieces combine the elasticity of rubber and the rigidity of the metal and the contrast of the black rubber and the shiny white metal. These two materials that seem not compatible interact in an intriguing way and build an organic unity. Depending on the way the rubber band is put through the holes in the metal squares, different structures emerge and decorative pieces with a different character are formed. The rubber bands are a decorative and a functional element at the same time.
When touched, these seemingly static, geometrical pieces become elastic, soft and comfortable to wear. "My idea is to use one module as a base for a series of pieces with completely different character and expression. This is my interpretation of a contemporary piece of jewellery."
The secret of the garden
Butterflies with wide spread wings and beetles with long feelers are arranged in a circle with legs next to each other and form brooches, pendants, rings and bangles. They also occur individually, as an ear stud sitting on the tip of the ear, or as a pin, nonchalantly crawling on the lapel. The insects are their own silhouettes: silver shadows, sometimes gilded or blackened. They sit in symmetric ornaments which grow into three dimensional constructions and resemble flowers in bloom. The beetles and butterflies turn into petals. And the secret of the garden? Its flowers can spread their wings and fly away.
