| Statement | Aliki’s latest collection consists of a series of weird and playful pieces of jewelry.
Her interest focuses in transforming selected, inspiring and interesting shaped ‘ready-mades’, into portable and wearable body decoration.
It can be quite fascinating when jewelry is structured around non precious yet intriguing and mysterious 'found objects'. The concept is about ‘recycling’ in a creative way and reinventing everyday objects by adding value and also different meanings/stories to them. Aiming to look from a different point of view and challenge ones perception about the given and the already known.
‘I love misplacing familiar, everyday items and introducing them into completely new irrelevant spaces by changing their identity and function. They become ‘others’ when we encounter them in unexpected places.’
After being enhanced by various materials, the 'objet trouve' is reborn and ready to incarnate its new role.
Plugs, doll’s eyes, headphones get celebrated through jewelry in a quite surreal way.
