Selected for “The 7th CHEONGJU International Craft Competition”

There was a request we need to meditate on the lesson craft have two pillars: usefulness(necessity) and artistry(beauty). So we CICB will try to re-read the usefulness as an essence of craft based on the truth, ‘craft in a daily lift here and now’. That is why CICB suggests<Not the New, Just the Necessary> as its theme. This theme includes an aesthetic usefulness beyond the implemental usefulness.

Simplicity is my teacher, where there is simplicity there are clarity and depth.
A piece of bread can tell a lot.
The breadcrumbs seem beautiful to me, there are many different types, one with many holes and very big holes is my favorite from an aesthetic point of view.

Statement

For several years I worked as theatre costume and accessories maker, creating also a wide range of jewellery for stage use.
I developed a strong interest for contemporary jewellery and I dedicated myself to it.
What characterized my early work was the use of very thin metal sheets and wires, experimenting with hollowness and fullness.
In later work, I started using even thinner metal sheets, as if working with paper sheets, creating pieces that were voluminous and light at the same time.
My more recent work is characterized by having more solid looking elements and also by the introduction of color, not previously explored.
