Statement
Zoe has a passion for unusual materials and enjoys the exploration of non-precious unconventional materials. The sensory and aesthetic inherent qualities of materials such as rubber and plastic are of particular interest. The fascination with exploiting the sense of touch has led to the recent discovery of flock fibre as a new material and process to investigate. Immediately seduced and surprised by the diverse range of fibres experimentation led her to examine the relationship between wearable three dimensional forms and flocked surfaces. Recent new directions explore how to integrate and apply bold colour and pattern. Therefore she is currently experimenting and developing ways to utilize the process of dye sublimation. Zoe is a full time lecturer at the world renowned School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University, UK. Prior to this she worked within the educational department at the Design Museum in London. Alongside lecturing she is an active designer maker who regularly exhibits her work throughout Europe.

2010 SOFA NEW YORK, Art Fair - USA Charon Kransen Arts will represent and exhibit her new work “Flocking Marvellous”, a collection of vibrant new neckpieces, as part of SOFA New York 2010. For further information please visit: www.charonkransenarts.com PARADIGMA - Barcelona, Spain + Beijing, China The exhibition showcases the work of 8 members of staff from the School of Jewellery, Birmingham (UK) and 7 staff members from Escola Massana in Barcelona curated by Professor Jack Cunningham. It was held at School of Jewellery during 2009, and will then tour to Barcelona (Spain) in February 2010. The work from the Birmingham makers will then travel onto Beijing (China).
