Applied art: glass and ceramics
The MMKA collects glass and ceramics produced from 1900 onwards with works by Mieke Groot, Richard Meitner and pieces designed by Andries Copier, Floris Meydam and K.P.C. de Bazel for Leerdam and Maastricht.
The collection of ceramics contains works by early twentieth century Arnhem earthenware factories. Artists represented in this collection are Theo Colenbrander, Lies Cosijn, Etie van Rees, Barbara Nanning and Jan van der Vaart.
Jewellery
The MMKA has been collecting contemporary Dutch jewellery since the 1970’s, when goldsmiths started a revolution in jewellery design, treating jewellery not as a status symbol but as a medium to express ideas. The collection contains works by Gijs Bakker, LAM de Wolf, Herman Hermsen, Nicolaas van Beek, Onno Boekhoudt, Ruudt Peters, Chris Steenbergen, Chequita Nahar, Hans Appenzeller, Annelies Planteijdt, Lucy Sarneel, Dinie Besems, Ted Noten, Evert Nijland and many others.
