Schmuck kann für Manuel Vilhena einen Kommunikationsprozess mit dessen TrägerInnen darstellen, er vertritt dementsprechend einen radikal subjektiven Schönheitsbegriff. In seinen Arbeiten verbindet er einen sensiblen Materialumgang mit Gestaltungen, die zu installationen tendieren.

Manuel Vilhena, geboren 1967 in Lissabon, studierte Schmuckdesign am Royal College of Art, London, an der Fachhochschule Köln, an der Fachhochschule für Schmuckdesign Contacto Directo, Lissabon und an der Sir John Cass School of Art, London. Diesen Sommer unterrichtet er an der Internationalen Sommerakademie in Salzburg.
